Although this may seem like an odd book for a vocology site, we have yet to find someone who describes the body/mind paradigm in such a direct, user-friendly, and pedagogically sound manner.   Gallwey’s approach to teaching tennis has endless applications for voice teachers and students alike.   The primary benefit follows from his attention to developing self-sustaining learners.  He also, importantly, engages in a meaningful exploration of the learner’s personal motivations and learning process.  The book is short too, which makes it great for use in environments where time is a constraint.   We’ve found that having students translate the tennis-focused exercises into singer-focused exercises creates a rich exploration for singers and young pedagogues.
