Scott McCoy’s book is one of the first to take the complexities of vocology and translate them into a more practical format for teachers who have not had extensive vocological training.   His approach is strictly bel canto, and as such, focuses on the language of that training approach, and leaves less room for other vocal styles.   McCoy provides the reader with clear definitions of some of the more challenging vocal concepts, and as such, this is a book worth reading, especially if you are just getting started with vocology.  The guided listening exercises and interactive CD make this an even more enticing tool to have in one’s box
